It’s about time for the announcement of Qualcomm’s next flagship Snapdragon chipset, expected to be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
And right on schedule they’ve reportedly put out the date for this year’s Snapdragon Summit, where the 8 Gen 2 is expected to be announced. The Snapdragon Summit will be held from November 15-17, at Hawaii.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is expected to come featuring four core clusters. First is the Cortex X3, running at around 3GHz. Then we have two clusters featuring two of the new A715 cores and two of the previous gen A710 cores.
This rounds up the high performance cores to 5 rather than 4 as has been traditionally the way in octa-core processors. Finally we have three cortex A510 power saving cores rather than the usual 4. Fingers crossed to see how that affects energy efficiency and battery life in the upcoming devices.
Details on the GPU are unknown for now, but expect a big jump in graphic performance
We’re also expecting the announcement of the first crop of flagships featuring the new processor.
